Learning Outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. Final cover and double page spread, exported as a JPG Steps- front cover In this image, I am using the magnetic lasso tool to remove the subject of my photo -the artist- from the background. This tool allows the selected image to be isolated from the background and therefore gives me more freedom to edit my magazine and maximise space for cover lines. The client requested an original magazine, using this tool allows more creative freedom and therefore the content produced will be original. Furthermore, the additional space allows more mention o f 'North London' on the magazine which is an explicit requirement of the client. Isolating the model from the background allows for a more bold and capturing image for any potential customers who may pass the magazine in the store. This created meaning in the front cover as readers will be more captivat...

Post-production techniques and processes (U3:P5)

Learning outcome 4 (U3): Be able to carry out post-production techniques and processes for an original media product to a client brief. Final front cover Final double page spread Review of suitability   Front cover : I believe my magazines front cover is appropriate for the target audience which I aim to entice and sell to. The cover has used a simplistic yet sophisticated design through limiting the colour palette, allowing our readers to be enticed but not distracted by the cover and therefore better read and absorb the information. Furthermore, by reducing the information on the page it enables the magazine to appeal to a wider audience, typically young kids' magazines have busy front covers and therefore become too distracting for anyone else. Interestingly, having a less crowded page allows for the magazine to appeal to the slightly older side of the demographic, while the bright colours and script typefaces will entice the younger end of our target audience. Less information ...

Learning outcome 3 (U3): Be able to create production materials for an original media product to client brief. Sourcing assets Thumbnails Photos and why I chose them I like this photo for the front cover of my magazine, the red lipstick and coat really make the model pop and will make the magazine more attractive to passing customers. The background is slightly disruptive however, and I will therefore use the lasso tool on photoshop to cut out the model, using a plain coloured background instead. I feel this will allow her to be the sole focus of the cover without too many distractions.  I thought this would be a good image as the main feature on the double page spread, the model looks happy and energetic which allows readers to mirror this same emotion when reading our magazine, therefore associating our magazine with a positive feeling and are more likely to buy it again. In addition, the model is wearing a basic denim jacket which is a more casual look so I believe our readers w...

Learning outcome 2 (U3): Be able to plan and develop pre-production materials for an original media product to a client brief.  Mood board This is the mood board for the pop-based magazine I am going to create, it features images of relevant artists, albums, streaming platforms and related stickers. Overall, I have tried to incorporate anything relevant to the world of pop that would additionally appeal to my target audience. My target audience is primarily younger and therefore prefer visual content so I will be applying this fact to my front cover which will display a variety of enticing images.  Fonts Masthead Title and cover lines Articles Above are the final fonts I decided upon for my magazine, the various fonts will be used to entice my target audience and keep a consistent theme for the magazine.   I decided to use the font ‘awesome possum’ for my masthead because of its youthful connotations, I believe this will appeal to my target audience.  ‘Growing garden...
